2018 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of modern circus and Norwich has been selected as one of the Six Cities of Circus. These Six Cities of Circus – Bristol, Blackpool, Norwich & Great Yarmouth, Newcastle-under-Lyme, London, and Belfast & Derry will host an array of spectacular events, festivals and performances.

To mark the beginning of celebrations the Circus250 logo, designed by Sir Peter Blake, was projected onto Norwich Castle and  landmarks across the Six Cities of Circus including the Great Yarmouth Hippodrome. Our students will be taking part in The Lord Mayor’s Celebrations with displays of acrobatics and our Lost in Translation team will later be unveiling their new show Famished this year.

Our Lost in Translation tutor and performer Natasha Rushbrooke headed to London to perform at a glittering Circus250 launch party at the Natural History Museum. She performed a breath-taking hand balancing act Handstands for Hope beneath the skeleton of a blue whale, named Hope, five metres in the air as part of the joint birthday celebrations with the Creative Industries Federation. We couldn’t be more proud of her and excited for the year to come!
